Ian Hunter

I'm sitting here - in boring-land - listening a bit to Ian Hunter's late 70's stuff, and damned if he wasn't one of the best literate rockers ever.  It helped to have Mick Ronson as your guitar player -that Mick Ronson that used to be in David Bowie's Spiders From Mars.  I think 'the times' passed him by since he was doing a kind of Glam Rock / Dylan thing and by the late 70's - well we were on our way to New Wave and the Big 80's electronic overproduced stuff.  Too bad, since most of what Hunter was doing was top notch.  Recommended:  Ian Hunter - You're Never Alone With A Schizophrenic (1979).

What does this mean?

First post - resurrecting a blog long forgotten.  Mainly explaining the title of the blog, "First Delirium".  It's a bit of a descriptor for one of my favorite poems by Rimbaud called "A Season In Hell".  Rimbaud himself was an interesting character who set out to revolutionize poetry itself, fairly well succeeded in that, and then gave it up to become a trader in Africa.

It's not easy being an artist - even harder being a poet.  "A Season In Hell" details some of the woes and tribulation Rimbaud went through.  Here's a link to an online version - warning though - it's fraught with photos of Leonardo DiCaprio for some reason:
